The only reason why some of us become saddened and grieved is simply because we forget the fact that we are being tested by Allah. Wake up…what is your problem! It’s a test! Simple and easy, therefore relax, chill out my friend. Allah not only has given us the test, but also the answer!! …patience and perseverance; bear with it, and in the end you will be rewarded. (Just take the example of prophet Ayub (as) read their story if you want to know what patience means).
Allah says in the Qur’an:
And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient ones.
(al-Qur’an 2:155)
Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions, and in your personal selves: and ye shall certainly hear much that will grieve you, from those who received the Book before you, and from those who worship many gods. But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil- then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.
(al-Qur’an 3:186)
So there you go, in all aspects of our lives we are tested.
That He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds
(al-Qur’an 11:7)
In every hardship we experience we are rewarded (Allah adds to our good deeds). Not even the prick from a thorn we suffer, but Allah forgives some of our sins.
Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira(may Allah be please with them both): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates (forgives) some of his sins.”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari: Eng Trans: vol 7 no 545)
Even better, just think about it: next time when you trap your finger in the door, instead of shouting “Oh sugar!” say Alhamdulillah, praise Allah because you know that some of your sins have been forgiven. Be happy, what is your problem!
Always praise Allah for what He has given you, be grateful (by performing more prayers, giving charity, zikr etc). Never look at people above you (in wealth, and family etc) but always look at people below you; be humble, and grateful. As someone once said:
If you walk barefoot, look at the one who has no legs, and praise Allah for the blessing of having two legs.
You have eyes to see, a tongue to talk, fingers and hands, praise Allah for He has blessed you (though you may not realise it). Be happy, what is your problem!
Another thing to remember is that its all meant to happen. What is your problem!
No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al-Lauh al-Mahfuz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allah.
(al-Qur’an 57:22)
And know that what has befallen you was not going to miss you, and that which missed you was not meant to befall you.
(Sunan Abu Dawud: Eng Trans: vol 3 pg 1317 no 4683)
And bear with patience whatever befalls you
(al-Qur’an 31:17)
We have a free will to do whatever we want, what has happened was meant to happen, therefore accept it. Do good deeds to the best of your ability, and carry on with your life in a patient manner.
Do have a soft heart, do as much zikr as possible eg, Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Astaghfirullah, Subhanallah wabihamdihi etc, and with Allah is our peace; as Allah says:
Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest
(al-Qur’an 13:28)
So with all this in mind, enjoy your life. What is your problem! Be happy!
